About Travis Egan | VA Loan Specialist in Clarksville, TN

A Marine Veteran Helping Military Families Navigate Homeownership

I’m Travis Egan, a Marine Corps combat veteran, Certified Veteran Mortgage Advisor, and mortgage professional with 30+ years of experience helping people buy, refinance, and finance homes.

Since 1995, I’ve helped more than 5,000 families navigate the mortgage process. Today, much of my work is focused on helping active-duty service members, veterans, military families, and homebuyers in Clarksville, Tennessee, Fort Campbell, Kentucky, and the surrounding communities understand their home financing options.

VA loans are central to that mission.

As a veteran, I know military homeownership does not always fit neatly into a traditional mortgage box. PCS orders, deployments, changing duty stations, VA entitlement, Basic Allowance for Housing, short timelines, previous VA loans, disability income, and military retirement can all affect the way a mortgage needs to be structured.

My job is to help you understand how those pieces fit together before they become problems.

That means explaining your options in plain English, answering the questions other lenders sometimes overlook, and helping you make a mortgage decision based on what actually makes sense for you and your family.

Whether you are buying your first home near Fort Campbell, PCSing to Clarksville, using your VA home loan benefit again, refinancing an existing VA mortgage, or simply trying to understand what you qualify for, you should know your options before you decide.

VA Home Loans for Veterans, Active Duty & Fort Campbell Families

This page may be about me, but the mortgage process should be about you.

Maybe you just received orders to Fort Campbell and need to figure out whether buying a home in Clarksville makes sense.

Maybe you are leaving active duty and wondering how your new income will affect VA loan qualification.

Maybe you have used your VA loan before and want to understand your remaining entitlement.

Maybe you have a disability rating and want to know whether you are exempt from the VA funding fee.

Or maybe another lender told you that you cannot qualify because of your credit, collections, a previous bankruptcy, debt-to-income ratio, or something unusual about your financial situation.

Those are exactly the kinds of conversations I want you to have before assuming you do or do not qualify.

A VA loan can offer eligible borrowers significant advantages, including financing a home with no down payment, no monthly private mortgage insurance, competitive interest rates, and flexible qualification guidelines. But the VA loan benefit isn't one-size-fits-all, and having the benefit does not automatically mean every VA loan is structured correctly for your situation.

My role is to help you understand the numbers, the rules, and the tradeoffs so you can make an informed decision.

Local Experience in Clarksville & Fort Campbell

Clarksville and Fort Campbell are not just markets I lend in. This is my community.

Working with military families here means understanding the realities of a PCS move, Fort Campbell reporting timelines, the Clarksville housing market, Tennessee and Kentucky properties, VA appraisals, seller negotiations, and the time pressure military buyers frequently face.

That local knowledge matters when you are trying to coordinate a mortgage, a move, a new duty station, and a closing date at the same time.

I also host the Clarksville Keys Podcast: Crack the Code to Clarksville Living, where I talk with local real estate professionals, business owners, and community leaders about buying a home, PCSing, living in Clarksville, and joining the Fort Campbell community.

More Than Just VA Loans

While VA lending is a major focus of my practice, I also help qualified borrowers evaluate conventional, FHA, USDA, jumbo, investment property, refinance, and other mortgage options.

Sometimes the VA loan is clearly the right choice. Sometimes it is worth comparing alternatives.

My responsibility is not to push you toward a particular loan program. It is to show you the options, explain the differences, and help you understand the financial impact of each one.
