You Just Got Pre-Approved for a VA Loan and Here Is Exactly What Happens Nex
Pre-Approval Is the Starting Line Not the Finish Line
Getting pre-approved is a significant and necessary step. It means you know your number, you understand what you can comfortably afford, and you are positioned to make serious offers on homes. For a lot of VA buyers that moment feels like the hard part is behind them.
Travis Egan wants every buyer he works with to understand what comes next so that nothing between pre-approval and closing feels like a surprise.
The Steps Between Pre-Approval and Keys in Hand
Finding the right home is the first task after pre-approval. With your number established and your financing in place you can search with clarity and make offers with confidence because sellers and their agents can see that your financing is real rather than speculative.
Once you are under contract the appraisal gets ordered. For VA loans this is a VA appraisal conducted by a VA-assigned appraiser who evaluates both the value and the condition of the property against VA minimum property requirements. The appraisal confirms that the home supports the loan amount and meets the standards the VA requires.
Underwriting follows. The underwriter reviews the complete file including all income documentation, credit, assets, the appraisal, and the property details against VA guidelines. Conditions come back during this stage and Travis works through them alongside you so the list of what is needed from your side stays as short as possible.
Once the conditions are cleared the loan moves toward final approval and closing. At closing you sign the final documents, any remaining funds change hands, and the transaction is complete.
What Travis Does Throughout the Process
Travis stays in touch at every step so you are never left wondering where things stand. The mortgage process has enough moving parts that silence from the lender creates anxiety even when everything is progressing normally. That silence is not something his clients experience.
